<title><![CDATA[Introducing myself]]></title>

<description><![CDATA[ <p>&lsquo;The path from novice to expert is surprisingly short&rsquo;. These words came from June Edhouse, my educational supervisor during my very first job as a Senior House Officer in <I>Emergency Medicine</I>, back in 2001. June was explaining how publishing a review article on broad complex tachycardia in the <I>BMJ</I> had shot her from novice to expert with immediate effect. From that inspiring conversation, I developed my interest in research.</p> <p>This month, I am honoured to be starting work as the Editor in Chief at the <I>Emergency Medicine Journal.</I> The 24-year gap between then and now and the 9 years I have spent as Deputy Editor may not seem &lsquo;surprisingly short&rsquo; to you (it does to me!).
